Using search profiles
With a search profile you can search in predefined search scopes facets and more. Typically, you search with the search profile All, which contains all search areas. However, you can also search, for example, only for documents from the file system or only for people.
The following types of search profiles are available:
Global profiles are defined by the administrator. For example, they can define the search range and the displayed facets.
Personal profiles are your private profiles. You can save a personal profile after having searched and filtered the hit list. Personal profiles are based on a global profile.
Public profiles are personal profiles that other users made publicly available to all users. You can also publish your own personal profiles.
Set default profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Select the desired global, personal or public profile.
Click → Set as default profile.
If you open iFinder, the profile is selected by default.
Global profiles
Using a global profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Under Global profiles, select a search profile.
Enter the search term.
Start the search with the Enter key, or click Perform search
.
Personal profiles
Create a personal profile
Enter the search term.
Start the search with the Enter key, or click Perform search
.
Filter the hit list as desired. See also Filtering the hit list.
Next to the search field, click the search profile selection.
Next to Personal Profiles, click
Add.
Enter a name and click Save.
The profile is displayed in the list of search profiles under Personal profiles. It contains the filter settings.
Search with a personal profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Under Personal profiles , select the profile.
The hit list is displayed.
Publish a personal profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to Personal Profiles, click
Edit.
Next to the profile that you want to publish, click
Public.
Click Finish editing.
The profile is no displayed in the Public profiles section. Other users can use this profile.
Delete a personal profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to Personal Profiles, click
Edit.
Next to the profile that you want to delete, click
Delete.
Click Finish editing.
Note
Personal profiles that you published are still available under Public profiles after deleting them from the Personal profiles section. To delete also your published profiles, edit the list of Public profiles and delete the published profile there.
Change the name of a personal profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to Personal Profiles, click
Edit.
Next to the profile that you want to edit, click
Edit.
Enter the name and click
to save your changes.
Click Finish editing.
Public profiles
Duplicate a public profile as personal profile
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to the public profiles that you want to duplicate as personal profile, click
Duplicate.
The profile is now displayed under Personal profiles.
Mark public profile as favourite
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to the public profiles that you want to mark as favourite, click
Favourite.
The profile is now shown as
Favourite.
Delete a published profile
You can only delete your own published profiles. The personal source profile is kept when you delete a published profile. To delete also the personal source profile, edit the list of personal profiles and delete the profile there.
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to Public Profiles, click
Edit.
Next to the profile that you want to delete, click
Delete.
Click Finish editing.
Change the name of a public profile
You can only change the name of your own published profiles.
Next to the search field, open the search profile selection.
Next to Public Profiles, click
Edit.
Next to the profile that you want to delete, click
Edit.
Enter the desired name and click
to save your changes.
Click Finish editing.
Structure of the search profile dropdown
The public profiles section displays the favorite profiles, if available, on the first line.
The second line displays the first public profiles according to any sorting criterion.
By default, there is only one line of non-favorites in the drop-down.
If you want to load all public profiles, click the button "Show all public profiles".
If you want to load only the favorite public profiles, click the button "Show only favorite profiles".
